Why Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss prays with his mom before every game

NASHVILLE, TN — The pregame prayer of Ole Miss football quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has become a widely known tradition, with his mother, Cheryl, and his father, Trent, joining him at the front of the stands before each kickoff. This tradition is expected to continue in 2026 when No. 10 Ole Miss hosts Louisville at Nissan Stadium.

Chambliss has gained significant recognition this past season, earning a spot in Times Square and the Las Vegas Sphere as part of the joint Heisman Trophy campaign with running back Kewan Lacy. While his parents attended every game at Division II Ferris State, they plan to be present for all of Chambliss' games in 2026, both at home and away.

Chambliss has been open about his Christian faith, with his name reflecting the Holy Trinity. In 2025, he led Ole Miss with 3,937 passing yards and 22 touchdowns, finishing eighth in Heisman Trophy voting. After successfully suing the NCAA in February, Chambliss anticipates making more money in college than in the NFL, which is why he intends to return to college football in 2026.

Chambliss, a 6-foot, 200-pound player from Grand Rapids, Michigan, has been a standout at Ferris State since Week 3 of the 2025 season, passing for 2,925 yards and rushing for 1,019 yards. His college career began at Division II Ferris State, where he progressed from a backup to a star player.
