Wa-Tumu-Bolga road upgrade will unlock agriculture, trade – Agbodza

The upgrade of the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga road corridor is set to unlock significant economic opportunities for communities in the Upper West Region, according to Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza. This major project promises to enhance the movement of farm produce, goods, and people across the region, thereby boosting agricultural productivity and trade activities.

Despite the substantial financial commitments inherited from previous administrations, the government remains committed to completing the various road projects within its four-year tenure. Agbodza highlighted that completing the Tumu Road and related projects towards the border would be one of the government's most substantial direct investments in the area during its first term.

Improved connectivity is expected to strengthen agriculture, facilitate trade, and create employment opportunities, particularly for young people and farmers who rely on reliable roads to transport their produce to markets. The Regional Highways Engineer, Livistone Damali, confirmed that construction is underway on almost all sections of the project.

Additionally, local political leaders, including Sissala East MP Mohammed Issah Bataglia and Tumu Landlord Baba Tommy Kantong, expressed their support for the projects, hoping they will provide a lasting solution to the region's longstanding road challenges.
