Vote for Boys Athlete of the Week for Aug 31-Sept. 4 presented by The Vance Law Firm

Week two of Alabama High School football in the Montgomery area showcased impressive performances from a variety of athletes. The Montgomery Advertiser has now presented their Boys Athlete of the Week poll for the week of August 31st through September 4th, sponsored by The Vance Law Firm.

Voting for the winner will commence on September 6th and conclude on September 10th, at noon. The final announcement is set to take place on September 11th. The nominees for this week are determined by top performers reported by high school coaches or statisticians. Interested parties can submit their nominations to sports@montgomeryadvertiser.com.

Montgomery Academy's Jarrett Friendly stood out with six receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-7 victory over Alabama Christian Academy. Prattville's CJ Brown also shined with five catches for 105 yards and three receiving touchdowns in the same game.

Pike Road's Tavaris Capours contributed significantly with 10 carries for 129 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in a 40-6 win over Percy Julian. In a setback, Lowndes Academy's Jase Humphries had 23 carries for 106 rushing yards and one touchdown in a narrow 13-8 loss to Edgewood Academy. Finally, Lowndes Academy's Chance Brock led the charge with 120 receiving yards and two touchdowns in a 50-40 win over Tallassee.
