What championship banner? Indiana football players long past celebrating

The Indiana football team is no longer focused on last year's national championship victory. Before their 52-16 victory over North Texas, they unveiled a 2025 championship banner in the south end zone of Memorial Stadium. The crowd sang along to Queen’s “We Are The Champions” when the banner was displayed, but the players showed little interest.

Indiana safety Isaiah Jones remarked, "I just didn't really notice it. It's cool to have that up there, but that's last year. We're trying to put another team together that's going to go out there and compete." Quarterback Josh Hoover and receiver Charlie Becker were also oblivious to the banner, concentrating on the game instead of the past success.

Becker, who had four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns, said, "That's sick" but was more focused on the game. Head coach Curt Cignetti's emphasis on humility and determination during the offseason paid off, as his players remained fully engaged in the present moment, with no thoughts of complacency or past glory.
