TV volume row leaves woman with slash wound in Kota Tinggi, cops nab husband

KOTA TINGGI, Sept 6 — Police have apprehended a Malaysian man in his 70s following an alleged incident of domestic violence. The suspect allegedly inflicted a superficial slash wound on his wife using a parang during a heated argument over the volume of the television at their residence in Taman Desa Sejahtera. The Kota Tinggi police were alerted around 9.30pm yesterday about the injured woman, who was bleeding from the wound at their home.

Superintendent Yusof Othman, the district police chief, reported that a police team was dispatched to the scene and apprehended the man, who is the victim's husband. An initial investigation revealed that the couple's disagreement began when the wife raised the TV volume, causing the intoxicated suspect to lash out with the blade.

The woman, also in her 70s, sustained a 1cm deep cut on her right arm and was transported to Kota Tinggi Hospital, where her condition is now stable. The police seized the weapon and are investigating the matter under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means.
