TV volume row leaves woman with slash wound in Kota Tinggi, cops nab husband

KOTA TINGGI, Sept 6 — Police have apprehended a Malaysian man in his 70s following an incident where he allegedly slashed his wife with a parang during a heated argument over the TV volume at their residence in Taman Desa Sejahtera. The Kota Tinggi police were alerted around 9:30pm yesterday about a woman suffering from a bleeding wound at their home.

Superintendent Yusof Othman, the district police chief, disclosed this in a statement on Facebook today. The police team responded to the scene and found the man, identified as the victim's husband, who was subsequently arrested.

According to the early investigation, the dispute arose when the wife decided to increase the television volume. The suspect, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, allegedly attacked his wife with the parang. The woman, also in her 70s, sustained a 1cm slash wound on her right arm and was promptly taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.

The police have seized the weapon and are investigating the incident under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which pertains to causing hurt with a dangerous weapon or means.
