Residents appeal for completion of abandoned Hodzo-Aviefe bridge

Residents of the Ho Central Municipality in Ghana's Volta Region are urgently urging the government to complete an abandoned bridge on the Hodzo-Aviefe road, located in their area. The bridge, started by a contractor, has been left unattended, causing significant inconvenience to residents who use it for daily activities. The road, connecting Hodzo, Aviefe, and surrounding communities, is becoming increasingly difficult to traverse, adversely affecting farmers' ability to transport their produce to market centers.

Some farmers have reported that buyers' vehicles cannot access their farms, leading to loss of agricultural produce. The residents fear that continued delays in bridge completion could exacerbate post-harvest losses and put additional strain on the livelihoods of farming communities and those dependent on the road for their daily needs.

They are calling on President John Dramani Mahama and relevant authorities to intervene and ensure the contractor completes the project, stating that it would restore access to farms, improve transportation, and support economic activities in the region. A local farmer visited by Adom News correspondent Odehyeba Owusu Job emphasized the urgency of the bridge project to avert further losses and enhance living conditions for residents reliant on the road.
