Prabowo urges vigilance, compliance with Anak Krakatau danger zone

In the aftermath of the eruption of Anak Krakatau, an Indonesian domestic worker found herself stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Yati Rasta, 61, had planned to return to Jakarta but her flight was cancelled due to the temporary closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The ash from the volcanic eruption disrupted 209 flights and affected 22,798 passengers.

Yati arrived at the airport at 6am to catch her 11am flight, but was informed later that it had been cancelled. With no funds to pay for accommodation, she had no choice but to spend the night at the airport. Several AirAsia flights to Jakarta were also cancelled, including AK034, QZ025, AK0386, and QZ0209. Ina Rahman, 49, from Bangsar, had to wait until the next morning for her flight, as her children's flight to Jakarta was also affected.

KLIA advised passengers to contact their airlines for the latest updates. The airport provided rest areas for passengers while they awaited further information on their flights. Anak Krakatau, located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, continued to erupt, with authorities reporting lava ejections and tremors. The volcano remained at Level III, with a three-kilometre exclusion zone in place.
