Rassie Erasmus: Boks’ job only half done as Baltimore beckons

Rassie Erasmus, the coach of the South African national rugby team, expressed his satisfaction after the Springboks' hard-fought 29-24 victory over the All Blacks in Soweto. However, he made it clear that the job is only half done, as the fourth and final Test in Baltimore awaits. South Africa currently leads the Rugby's Greatest Rivalry series 2-1, but a New Zealand win in Baltimore would result in a draw.

Erasmus emphasized that the series cannot be considered a tie, as the trophy is designed to be shared only in the event of a draw. He jokingly mentioned sharing a beer with All Blacks coach Dave Rennie on the flight to America, but neither coach intends to indulge in alcohol. Erasmus is eager to replicate the intensity and excitement of the Victory at Soccer City in the upcoming Test.

The Boks faced a challenging match, trailing until the 58th minute before securing control in the final stages. Erasmus acknowledged that the All Blacks were superior in the first half, praising their ball retention and pressure on the Boks. Despite the narrow margin, Erasmus highlighted the fine margins between the world's top rugby nations.

He also revealed that the wing Cheslin Kolbe will not travel to Baltimore due to a fractured jaw, along with four other team members. However, the backs Damian Willemse, Grant Williams, and Canan Moodie are fit to join the team in Baltimore.
