Qatar participates in two GCC Gulf Health Council Meetings

Doha, Qatar witnessed the participation of the State of Qatar in two significant Gulf Health Council meetings of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) today. The meetings, which took place in Bahrain, were the 89th gathering of the Gulf Health Council and the 12th meeting of the GCC Health Ministers' Committee.

Qatar's delegation, led by Minister of Public Health HE Mansoor bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, attended the sessions. The two meetings aimed to strengthen joint health sector efforts across the Gulf region.

During the meetings, several topics were discussed to enhance collaboration in the health sector. The GCC Gulf Health Council reviewed its budget and initiatives planned for 2027. Meanwhile, the GCC Health Ministers' Committee deliberated on critical issues, including the implementation of the Supreme Council of the GCC's health decisions, strategic storage of food, medicines, and other supplies, and the examination of expatriate workers.

The meetings also reviewed the action plan of the GCC Gulf Health Council (2026-2030), the Gulf Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028), and the project to establish the Gulf Centre for Food Risk Assessment. Additionally, the committee examined the progress of implementing the decisions from the 11th meeting of the GCC Health Ministers' Committee.
