Pakistan condemns demolition of century-old mosque in India

Islamabad - The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokesperson has strongly denounced the demolition of a century-old mosque located in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, on September 5, 2026. According to Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, this act of destruction against a historic Islamic place of worship exemplifies the ongoing Islamophobic and Hindutva-driven campaign aimed at eradicating the Islamic heritage.

He emphasized that this incident further solidifies the symbolism of the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid as a representation of religious intolerance, prejudice, and hatred.

In his statement, Ambassador Haider Khan urged the international community to immediately address the systematic persecution of Muslims by Indian authorities and the ongoing desecration and destruction of their places of worship, which occur under the state's support. He urged Indian authorities to bear responsibility for these actions that infringe upon the fundamental religious freedoms and cultural heritage of minorities, particularly Muslims.
