Diamondbacks Geraldo Perdomo hit in head by line drive, exits with head contusion

On September 6, Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo exited a game against the Houston Astros after being struck in the head by a line drive hit by teammate Ketel Marte. Perdomo was on the basepaths when Marte hit an 93 mph line drive in the top of the third inning. Perdomo tried to avoid the ball but was hit on the helmet, prompting him to drop to the ground and be checked by a trainer.

He was eventually helped off the field on his own power and ruled out for the remainder of the game due to a head contusion. Perdomo will continue to be monitored by the team for the rest of the day and into the next day.
