Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo leaves game after being hit in the helmet by a line drive

Arizona’s Geraldo Perdomo exited Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros after suffering a helmet injury from a line drive hit by Ketel Marte in the third inning. Perdomo began the inning by safely reaching first base, but Marte’s 93 mph single impacted him on the side of his helmet as he attempted to advance to second. The player promptly collapsed to the ground, writhing in discomfort as teammates from both sides rushed to assess his condition.

After spending a few minutes on the field receiving medical attention, Perdomo eventually rose to his feet and walked off the field without assistance. Ildemaro Vargas assumed Perdomo’s role at shortstop for the bottom of the inning, while Tim Tawa took over first base. The team has yet to disclose any information regarding Perdomo’s current state.
