AS nafi dakwaan cuba tentukan kepimpinan politik Malaysia

The United States Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has denied allegations that it tried to determine Malaysia's political leadership, labeling such claims as false. David H. Gamble Jr., the Acting Principal Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, stated that the U.S. has never attempted to determine who should lead Malaysia's politics.

He dismissed any claims to the contrary as false in a Facebook statement today. Gamble's denial came in response to allegations from PAS President Hadi Awang, who claimed that the U.S. had offered to undermine the government during former President Barack Obama's visit to Malaysia in 2014. Hadi said this occurred when former U.S. presidents were invited to meet with PAS leaders at the U.S. Embassy.

He made the claim during a speech at the PAS Annual General Meeting 72 in Kota Bharu the previous day. Hadi stated that Takiyuddin Hassan and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who were his political advisers at the time, went to the embassy to discuss matters. Takiyuddin was found by reporters after the meeting to confirm the matter, but he clarified that the discussion was only about whether PAS had plans to topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, which was not ruled out by PAS.

The U.S. Embassy previously also stressed that its diplomatic relations with Malaysia continue to focus on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
