APC, Atiku trade tackles over economic policies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, for his continuous criticism of President Bola Tinubu's administration, particularly its economic policies. The party described Atiku as a rejected politician whose statements were devoid of reality and aimed at warming himself to the people's hearts.

APC stated that Tinubu's administration had alleviated hardship caused by the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government. This development follows Atiku's pledge to mobilize Nigerians against the policies of the present administration.

In an interview with Sunday PUNCH, Atiku's media aide, Paul Ibe, revealed that his policy blueprint was under review and aimed at addressing poverty, insecurity, and other issues. He stated that the election would be a referendum on the failed policies of the Tinubu government, which was responsible for the welfare and protection of Nigerians. Atiku expressed confidence in becoming the governor of Lagos next year.

The APC defended Tinubu's administration's economic reforms, asserting that they were ahead of those proposed by Atiku. APC Director of Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, maintained that the current administration's policies were more successful and suggested that Nigerians should not abandon the known for the unknown. He stated that Atiku's proposals were mere political statements designed to entice and appease voters rather than address real issues facing Nigeria.

Atiku, according to Ibrahim, was not being sincere in his projections and was not a stranger to rejection, having faced it when he was a leader of the PDP. The APC claimed that Atiku's political office experience had resulted in rejection due to the hardships they had caused in the country.
