AirNav Intensifies Jakarta Airspace Monitoring Amid Mount Anak Krakatau Ash

AirNav Indonesia, the official air navigation service provider in Indonesia, has ramped up its monitoring efforts over the airspace around Jakarta due to the ash plume emitted by Mount Anak Krakatau. In response to the recent volcanic activity, the company has issued NOTAM A3344/26, temporarily grounding flights at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII) until at least 09:30 WIB on Sunday, September 6, 2026. This decision was made to ensure flight safety amidst the volcanic ash hazard.

Hermana Soegijantoro, EVP of Corporate Secretary at AirNav Indonesia, explained that NOTAM A3344/26 is an update to the previously issued NOTAM A3341/26, which addressed the conditions at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The new NOTAM aims to provide the latest information to airspace users and aviation stakeholders regarding the evolving situation.

Operations at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH) have resumed normalcy, as per NOTAM A3342/26. This airport's runway 06/24 (RWY 06/24) returned to regular operations at 02:28 WIB on September 6, 2026.

AirNav Indonesia emphasizes that the provision of air navigation services is dynamic and heavily influenced by the actual conditions in each region, particularly in the presence of potential volcanic ash hazards. The company continuously monitors the spread of volcanic ash and airspace conditions through the Indonesia Network Management Center (INMC) to ensure that flight safety information remains up-to-date and accessible.
