Zambry: Malaysia Higher Education Plan 2026-2035 aims to shape students with strong values alongside academic excellence

The Malaysia Higher Education Plan (RPTM) 2026–2035 is dedicated to cultivating students who possess not only strong academic abilities but also a solid foundation in values and good character. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir highlighted that the purpose of education is to transform individuals into better people who can adapt to a rapidly changing world and the demands of the workforce.

During the "Sembang Santai Bersama Doc Zam" session, held at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Zambry emphasized that nurturing character alongside academic excellence is crucial for preparing students to meet the challenges posed by technological advancements, such as artificial intelligence and large language models.

He stressed the necessity for the higher education system to adapt to these rapid changes in order to equip students with the skills they need for the evolving job market. The RPTM also introduces greater flexibility, allowing working adults to resume their studies and benefit from the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) pathway.

Zambry further mentioned that the Perak Sejahtera Student Carnival 3.0, which gathered 807 participants representing various institutions of higher learning and Form Six students, serves as a vital platform for fostering unity, building networks, and boosting confidence among Perak's youth. The event, attended by participants from diverse districts and ethnicities, underscores the importance of togetherness in shaping a competitive generation of future leaders for Perak.

UPSI vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff noted that such gatherings offer Perak students an invaluable opportunity to exchange experiences and draw inspiration from accomplished leaders. He stressed that such events play a critical role in nurturing the next generation of leaders who will contribute to the nation's development.
