In Teachers’ Day post, Keralam Higher Education Minister takes a dig at V-Cs attending RSS events

On Teachers' Day, Keralam Higher Education Minister Roji M John criticized Vice-Chancellors for attending events organized by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He stated that such behavior is "unbecoming of heads of higher educational institutions" and that they should not reduce themselves to platforms that propagate divisive agendas.

John emphasized the importance of maintaining the dignity of their positions and reminded them not to compromise academic autonomy for narrow political interests. The minister's comments came after multiple instances where Vice-Chancellors from state universities had faced criticism for attending RSS events. Notably, M. Sajitha Rani, the Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University, faced controversy after inaugurating a Shobhayatra organized by Balagokulam in Thrissur on September 4, 2026. John urged teachers to uphold the values of free thought, constitutional values, and respect for all generations, criticizing those who failed to foster an environment of humanitarian values and critical thinking.
