Trump's special envoys arrive in Moscow – media

U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner landed in Moscow, Russia, according to Russian media sources. The flight, believed to be a Boeing C-32A government aircraft, originated from Miami International Airport in Florida and stopped in Helsinki before crossing into Russian airspace. Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reported on the arrival, citing information from Russian media outlets.

Russian news agency Interfax confirmed the presence of the American representatives at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport. The U.S. state-run TASS news agency also published video footage of a motorcade prepared to receive the visitors. An unnamed source told TASS that the U.S. government-operated aircraft departed Miami, made a stop in Helsinki, and then continued its journey, entering Russian airspace.

BBC News Russian reported that, based on FlightRadar24 tracking service data, the U.S. Air Force Boeing C-32A was in the air and had crossed into Russian airspace over the Gulf of Finland, passing near St. Petersburg around noon. The Boeing C-32A, a modified Boeing 757, is typically used to transport high-ranking U.S. officials, including the vice president, first lady, and secretary of state.

Earlier reports suggested that Witkoff and Kushner were scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on September 5, followed by a visit to Kyiv to discuss matters with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on September 6. The previous trilateral talks among Russia, Ukraine, and the United States took place in Geneva on February 17-18, 2026. The next scheduled meeting was set for March 5 in Abu Dhabi, but was postponed due to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran.

U.S. President Donald Trump had announced that his special envoys Witkoff and Kushner would travel to Moscow and Kyiv with proposals aimed at resolving Russia's military involvement in Ukraine.
