Ramkarpal hits back at PAS rep, says DAP consistently questioned Zahid's DNAA

DAP MP Ramkarpal Singh has criticized a PAS assemblyman from Kedah, Mardhiyyah Johari, for questioning the timing of DAP's call for Attorney-General Mohamad Sidik Jalil to review the 47 charges against Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Ramkarpal, the Bukit Gelugor MP, stated that Mardhiyyah is "clearly erroneous and ignorant of DAP’s stand on the matter."

He pointed out that DAP had raised concerns about the DNAA granted to Zahid immediately after the High Court's decision on September 4, 2023, following the prosecution's application. DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook had issued a statement the following day, urging the AG to explain his decision, emphasizing the party's commitment to the separation of powers and the principle of no executive intervention in court cases.

Ramkarpal also mentioned that DAP had urged the Attorney-General's Chambers to explain its decision not to take further action against Zahid in a statement dated January 7, 2024. He added that on January 8, he questioned the AGC about its sudden change of mind regarding the High Court's prima facie findings against Zahid, particularly when those findings were based on evidence presented by the prosecution itself.

Ramkarpal reiterated that the party will continue questioning the AG's decision in Zahid's case, as he finds it "clearly makes no sense," especially considering the High Court's findings and the cozy relationship between Umno and PAS.
