‘To challenge deadly blockade’: New flotilla mission sets sail for Gaza

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition announced a new maritime mission to Gaza in October, reporting to Anadolu Ajansi (AA). The coalition emphasized that Israel's ongoing "genocide" and Palestine's lack of freedom drove their decision to resume the mission. The voyage is already in progress, with vessels having visited European ports since June and July.

Notably, the Kate departed from Bristol in August and made stops in Ireland, Germany, and France. The coalition plans to bring together various supporters, including human rights advocates, trade union activists, elected representatives, journalists, medical professionals, and others. They intend to pressure governments to halt weapons and energy shipments to Israel, end diplomatic and military cooperation with the country, and impose sanctions.

The coalition plans to visit ports in Spain, Portugal, and Italy before reaching Gaza in October. Zohar Chamberlain Regev, a coalition member, expressed frustration with governments' failure to uphold their obligations. The coalition urged governments to ensure safe passage for the flotilla and called for immediate, unrestricted access to Gaza.

They also demanded an end to Israeli restrictions on essential supplies. The coalition warned of the risks associated with the mission, recalling past attacks and detentions of flotilla participants by Israeli forces.
