Railways cancels, diverts several trains as water levels rise in Bihar

Indian Railways has canceled and redirected numerous train services in Bihar due to rising water levels along key railway bridges. The East Central Railway (ECR) reported that some train movements were suspended at Bridge No. 21 between Patna Sahib (PPN) and Patliputra Junction (PRBZ) stations, which operates on the down line. As of September 4, 2026, trains 63242, 63244, 63245, 63247, 63248, 63251, 63256, and 63274 were cancelled, while trains 13329, 13330, 15138, 15137, 18625, and 18626 were diverted.

Additionally, the Ganga river breached its highest flood level at Gandhi Ghat and Pandarak in Patna, forcing over 10 lakh people across 11 districts to be affected by the flood crisis. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary conducted a helicopter tour to assess the situation and review relief measures, emphasizing the priority of protecting people and preventing further damage.
