In Ogun State, Nigeria, a Celestial Church of Christ pastor named Bidemi Odukoya is accused of murdering his wife during an early morning dispute over suspected infidelity. Odukoya allegedly killed his wife with a machete and wooden stool around 2 am on August 31 before jumping in front of a speeding truck on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, resulting in his death.

The bodies were buried the same day beside their home, leaving residents perplexed by the tragic incident. Meanwhile, the Auditor-General for the Federation has raised concerns over the misuse of N33.75 billion in cash transfers to over 3.29 million vulnerable households. The report highlighted that paid vouchers lacked full beneficiary details, and the Remita statement necessary for verification was unavailable.

The auditors recommended that the National Programme Manager be held accountable before the National Assembly. A Nigerian law professor, Dr Ibironke Odumosu-Ayanu, has been appointed as the new dean of the College of Law at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, for a five-year term starting October 1. The appointment was made despite Odumosu-Ayanu's lack of Nigerian banking experience.
