UAE weather: Temperatures set to hit 50°C with rain on the way

Temperatures in the UAE are expected to soar to a scorching 50°C in the Abu Dhabi desert on Saturday, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM). The heat wave will persist through the weekend, with high humidity levels keeping the air muggy. The NCM's online weather map predicts temperatures to peak at 42°C in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, with a slight rise to 43° on Sunday. Dubai residents can also expect daytime temperatures of 42°C on both Saturday and Sunday.

While much of the country basks in the intense heat, some relief can be found in the Northern Emirates. Fujairah will experience slightly cooler temperatures, with daytime highs of 34°C on Saturday and 35°C on Sunday. Al Ain may also see some cloud cover and September showers on Saturday, while Al Quaa in the Abu Dhabi desert is expected to receive heavier rainfall.

As September progresses, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease. Humidity remains high throughout the month, earning September the nickname "Sweat-tember." Over the past 30 years, average September temperatures in the UAE have ranged from 29°C to 39°C, with humidity averaging around 54%. Cooler weather is anticipated to arrive in October, with average highs of 25.5°C and lows of 35.8°C between 1991 and 2020.

Winter officially begins in November, with January being the coolest month of the year, featuring an average minimum temperature of 15.5°C and a maximum of 24.3°C.
