Minchey shines in debut as Kentucky starts Stein era with win over Youngstown State 45-13

Kenny Minchey made his coaching debut with a commanding performance, leading Kentucky to a 45-13 victory over Youngstown State. The freshman quarterback completed 301 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his skills in his first college head-coaching game. Freshman C.J. Baxter and returnee Jason Patterson contributed with two touchdowns each and a significant rushing effort, respectively.

Minchey's first pass, a 33-yard strike to Kenny Darby, set the stage for Kentucky's first touchdown of the game. Youngstown State, despite their nine-ranked FCS status, managed only 43 points in the opening quarter and was held to 305 yards of total offense. The Wildcats' defense held strong, allowing Youngstown State only 59 yards on the ground.
