Luke Weaver's third touchdown pass lifts San Jose State over Eastern Michigan 27-21

In a hard-fought matchup, Luke Weaver's three touchdown passes propelled San Jose State to a 27-21 victory over Eastern Michigan on Friday night. Weaver's first touchdown pass of the game found Cooper Hoch for 115 yards, giving the Spartans an early 10-7 lead. However, Eastern Michigan took a 17-17 lead into the fourth quarter when Bryce Llewellyn recovered a fumble by Weaver that occurred after a sack near the Spartans' goal line.

Weaver then rallied his team, completing a 40-yard touchdown pass to Hoch with approximately 11 minutes left in the game, putting the Spartans ahead 24-21. Eastern Michigan's defense held strong in the fourth quarter, limiting the Spartans to just 25 yards. Trajan Sinatra's 49-yard field goal in the final two minutes sealed the win for San Jose State.

Weaver completed 23 of 39 passes for 316 yards and was intercepted once. Hoch had 115 receiving yards, while Jabari Bates powered the ground game with 119 yards. Noah Kim led the Eagles with 174 passing yards and a touchdown, while throwing one interception. Eastern Michigan scored first with a short touchdown pass to Harold Mack, but San Jose State responded with a 27-yard pass from Weaver to Jase Nix and a 45-yard field goal by Sinatra to take a 10-7 lead at halftime.

This marked the first regular season meeting between the two teams, with Eastern Michigan previously winning in the 1987 California Bowl and the 2022 Potato Bowl. San Jose State will face Cal Poly on September 12, while Eastern Michigan will travel to play Michigan State on the same date.
