Luis Campusano's 2-run homer in 10th lifts Padres to 3-2 win over Yankees

San Diego Padres' Luis Campusano hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning, clinching a 3-2 victory over New York Yankees in a crucial National League matchup on Friday night. This win pushes the Padres back into the third wildcard spot in the league. Campusano's walk-off homer was his sixth of the season. Prior to this, rookie Spencer Jones contributed significantly by hitting an RBI single, giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead against hometown San Diego Padres in the 8th inning.

Jones, a 25-year-old rookie who played high school in San Diego, was making his major league debut at Petco Park. After Jones' single, Padres' closer Mason Miller came in and struck out the next two batters to secure the 2-1 lead. In the 9th inning, David Bednar struck out Austin Hays, leaving San Diego with a baserunner to third.

Ben Rice then hit a tie game tying homer in the 3rd inning, marking the All-Star's 36th home run of the season. The Padres had taken an early lead in the 2nd inning, with Ty France leading off the inning with a double and advancing on a bunt, eventually scoring on Xander Bogaerts' single. The Padres will face off against Yankees' starting pitchers Carlos Rodón and Robbie Ray in the upcoming Saturday game.
