Kerala Tragedy: 8 Tamil Nadu Engineering Students Killed In Horrific Midnight Crash After Car Rams Into Lorry Parked On NH-66 In Thrissur | Watch

Thrissur: Eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul tragically lost their lives in a devastating road accident on Friday night, when their car collided with a parked, fully loaded lorry on National Highway NH-66 in the Kaipamangalam area of Thrissur district in central Keralam. Police revealed that the students from PSNA College were en route to Kodungallur when the horrific crash occurred at around 11.40 pm, near the Panambikkunnu Centre.

According to the police, the lorry had been illegally parked on the right side of the highway near a barricaded section where traffic had been redirected due to ongoing construction. The car, which was traveling at high speed from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur, apparently failed to notice the diversion barrier before crashing into the rear of the lorry.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the car was heavily damaged, forcing emergency responders to pull out the deceased students from the mangled vehicle during a rescue operation involving local residents, fire and rescue personnel, and police.

Six students succumbed to their injuries immediately, while two others passed away after reaching a nearby hospital. The deceased were identified as Surya, Yuvasanjith, Vishva, Johua from Dindigul, and Santhosh and Prasanna from Madurai. Their bodies were taken to the mortuary of Thrissur Medical College, and postmortem examinations will commence once their families arrive.

The lorry driver, whose identity has not been confirmed, remains at large. Police have registered a case against him under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide. The tragic accident has left the community in shock, with the families of the deceased still grappling with the unimaginable loss.
