HTU clinic upgraded to primary hospital after HeFRA inspection

The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has elevated the Ho Technical University (HTU) Clinic to a Primary Hospital following a thorough inspection. Divine Kporha, the Volta Regional Director of HeFRA, announced the development to the Ghana News Agency (GNA). This significant milestone marks the facility's transformation from a Sick Bay to a comprehensive healthcare provider for the University community and the broader public.

Kporha stated that the upgrade highlighted the facility's growth and increased capacity to deliver essential healthcare services. He also noted the growing public confidence in the facility, driven by its rising utilization. In 2025, the facility hosted 24,846 Out-Patient Department (OPD) attendees, 1,500 Antenatal Care (ANC) checks, 154 deliveries, and 1,633 Child Welfare Clinic visits.

He emphasized the facility's successful delivery of triplets in 2026, the first such delivery in its history, a testament to the dedication of the clinical team and the clinic's progress.

Kporha clarified that HeFRA's role extends beyond regulation, encompassing support for facilities to achieve the standards necessary for safe and quality healthcare provision. He congratulated the Vice-Chancellor of HTU, Prof. Ben Honyenuga, the University Council, Management, Dr. Redeemer Fiebor, the Medical Director, and the entire healthcare team on this achievement.

Dr. Fiebor expressed gratitude to HeFRA for its assessment and support in the facility's development and upgrade, stating that the milestone represents a crucial step in the facility's growth and future healthcare provision in Ho Municipality.
