Greenwood, Guendouzi handed bans after Fenerbahce-Lyon brawl

Fenerbahce's French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi and English teammate Mason Greenwood have been banned from UEFA club competitions following a chaotic brawl after their Champions League play-off second leg against Lyon. The incident occurred after Fenerbahce secured a 2-1 victory in France, advancing 3-2 on aggregate. Both players, who had previously played for Lyon's rivals Marseille, were involved in a brawl with players and staff from both sides post-match.

Guendouzi has been suspended for a total of four UEFA club competition matches for insulting others, provoking spectators, and violating basic rules of decent conduct. Two of these bans are subject to a one-year probationary period. He was also fined €50,000 (US$58,000) for his transgressions. Guendouzi was found guilty of giving the middle finger to Lyon supporters and engaging in provocative actions that led to a scuffle following the match.

Former Arsenal midfielder Guendouzi's teammate, Mason Greenwood, received a one-match suspended ban and a fine of €30,000 for violating the basic rules of decent conduct during the incident.
