Court ruling allows 2 starting defensive linemen to play for No. 6 Indiana against North Texas

Indiana University's basketball players, Malik Reneau and Butler's star men's basketball player, will be eligible to compete in Division I athletics for the 2026-27 season following a recent court ruling. Indiana circuit court Judge Kara Krothe of the Monroe Circuit Court in Bloomington issued the temporary restraining order. The decision was made in response to a previous court case that overturned a ruling allowing additional seasons of eligibility for the high school graduating class of 2022.

Defensive linemen Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt, who were part of Indiana's national championship team, were initially granted a fifth year of eligibility in a separate court decision. Both players have faced season-ending injuries, with Daley missing the College Football Playoff and Wyatt suffering a knee injury last October. Neither player was drafted by a professional football team, and their eligibility had been uncertain pending the outcome of the ongoing legal proceedings.

The case also involves former Indiana basketball player Malik Reneau, who is now playing at Miami University, as well as an Indiana women's volleyball player, two Hoosiers swimmers, and a Butler University basketball player.
