Box office magnet Robert Pattinson appears in paedophile thriller

British actor Robert Pattinson is set to star in the upcoming film "Primetime," which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival. The movie, directed by 30-year-old Lance Oppenheim, features Pattinson in a role as a TV presenter hunting paedophiles. Oppenheim told reporters that he was "extremely attached" to the project from the beginning and that Pattinson had been deeply involved in the film's production, serving as a co-producer through his own company, Icki Eneo Arlo.

The film is loosely based on the controversial NBC reality TV show "To Catch a Predator," which aired from 2004-2007 and involved the unmasking of paedophiles. Chris Hansen, the original presenter of the show, praised Pattinson's portrayal in the trailer but hinted at the possibility of legal action due to the unflattering nature of the representation.

Pattinson found the role challenging, particularly mastering the American accent, but expressed enjoyment in the collaboration with Oppenheim. American singer Phoebe Bridgers, who is a friend of Oppenheim's, appears in a cameo as Hansen's wife. The film, produced by A24, is one of the most anticipated entries in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival.
