Aranda and Palacios homer as Rays overcome first Rangers grand slam of season in 7-6 win

In a 7-6 victory over Texas, the Tampa Bay Rays broke a 10-game losing streak on the road and marked the first time the Rangers had hit a grand slam this season. Jonathan Aranda and Richie Palacios each hit a home run as the Rays ended Texas' biggest deficit of the season at three games. Elias Díaz contributed significantly with five RBIs and his fourth career homer, tying the game in the seventh inning.

However, Garrett Cleavinger walked Cody Freeman before Díaz hit a fly ball over the fence in left field, securing the Rays' lead. Nick Martinez was removed with one out and two on in the seventh inning, while Garrett Cleavinger came in and faced Cody Freeman. Cam Booser then got Corey Seager to ground into a double play, solidifying the Rays' advantage.

Kevin Kelly then pitched a perfect eighth inning, and Tyler Wells finished strong after Bryan Baker exited with an apparent injury after issuing two walks in the ninth inning. Díaz's sacrifice fly trimmed the deficit to one, putting the potential tying run at third with two outs, but Justin Foscue popped out. Nick Martinez allowed five hits and three runs in 6 1/3 innings, marking his first appearance as a Texas opponent. The Rays now lead the AL East with a 3-1 record over the Rangers.
