Anthropic IPO launch shifts toward mid-October, sources say

Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, is shifting its IPO launch plans, sources indicate. The company is now expected to begin marketing its initial public offering in mid-October, with completion occurring days before the US midterm elections in November. Some investors had anticipated a US$2 trillion listing, which would be one of the largest IPOs ever attempted and a significant test of public-market interest in the rapidly growing AI industry.

The IPO prospectus was initially expected to be made public as early as next week, but this has now been pushed back to late September. The shift in timing reflects the typical adjustments companies make to their IPO schedules as they navigate market conditions, regulatory reviews, and other preparations. As part of the IPO, Anthropic is aiming to finalize a US$15 billion revolving credit facility, following which analysts from banks involved in the financing are expected to meet with the company.

The offering is anticipated to be one of the most anticipated IPOs, as investors seek public-market exposure to the AI industry. Other AI companies, such as OpenAI, may also seek listings around the same time. The banks involved in the IPO are Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Citi.
