11 nabbed to assist probe into group attack in Ipoh

In Ipoh, police have apprehended 11 men suspected of involvement in a violent group attack that left a victim seriously injured, according to Perak police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin. The men, ranging in age from 22 to 41, have prior criminal records for drug and violent offenses. The incident occurred last Tuesday when five men, traveling in two cars, approached the 26-year-old victim at around 10:30 am and chased and assaulted him.

The victim, in an attempt to escape, jumped into Sungai Kinta but was subsequently slashed with a machete by one of the suspects, resulting in injuries to his face, hands, legs, and back. The victim was later rescued by members of the public and taken to the hospital for treatment. The police chief stated that the attack was allegedly motivated by revenge and dissatisfaction from an organized crime group against the victim.

All eleven suspects have been remanded to assist in the investigation under Section 326 of the Penal Code. The police chief has also called upon anyone with information regarding illegal activities involving organized crime groups to report it through official police channels or at the nearest police station.
