11 nabbed to assist probe into group attack in Ipoh

Eleven men have been arrested in connection with a group attack in Ipoh that left a victim seriously injured, according to Perak police chief Alwi Zainal Abidin.

The incident occurred in Taman Pengkalan Jaya on Tuesday morning when the 26-year-old victim was approached by five men traveling in two cars. The suspects then chased and assaulted the victim before he jumped into Sungai Kinta in an attempt to escape. One of the suspects slashed the victim with a machete, resulting in injuries to his face, hands, legs, and back.

Alwi Zainal Abidin stated that the motive behind the attack was revenge and dissatisfaction from an organized crime group against the victim. All eleven suspects, aged between 22 and 41, have previous criminal records involving drug offenses and violent crimes. They have been remanded under Section 326 of the Penal Code to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The police chief urged the public to report any information related to illegal activities involving organized crime groups through the police operations room's official channels or the nearest police station.
