Wawasan menuju pertengahan, sederhana, kata Saifuddin

Wawasan Malaysia, as directed by its Deputy President Saifuddin Abdullah, is striving for a midpoint and simplicity, he said. The party, he noted, is not aiming to become a multi-ethnic one, but it is dominated by a certain community. The party's leadership, both at the national and branch levels, will reflect Malaysia, he added.

Following the party's rebranding on July 6, the election of the Central Committee's executive members involved replacing the president, two vice-presidents, and eight non-Malay-Muslim executive members. The Secretary-General of the National Relations Committee (Penaja) was allowed to appoint three executive members to ensure its multi-ethnic and multi-religious membership, he stated in a statement.

Addressing accusations that Wawasan practices identity politics, Saifuddin emphasized that identity is not against religion and the Constitution. The problem lies in discrimination and/or being discriminated against due to identity, he said. He said that being a party with a Malaysian face is not just about numbers or ensuring the representation of communities and religions, but it must be translated into political culture.

That is, the way decisions are made, priorities are set, differences are handled, and most importantly, trust is fostered among all parties, he said, who is also a Deputy Speaker.
