Ultimátum a la solidaridad en Ceuta: “Mañana no habrá comida para 250 mujeres y niños”

Ceuta's border gate bears the ominous sign "no sitio" in both Spanish and Arabic, yet it remains futile. Dozens of Moroccan women have been stationed on the sidewalks for hours, awaiting a change in reality, a change that will not come. Inside, the situation is at its breaking point. Over 250 women and children, housed in caravans for months, have reached a critical juncture.

Uzman Bersabé, from Ceuta's Social and Neighborhood Movement, one of the organizations voluntarily taking in the most vulnerable migrants for over a month, declares, "As things stand, tomorrow we run out of food." Initially, a makeshift football field overflowed, and now, alongside a city outskirts mosque, the temporary camp, once provisioned by the Luna Blanca NGO to set up a provisional settlement.

However, the term "provisional" has lost its meaning in this city. The government delegation assured them the encampment was temporary and they would be relocated to La Hípica, the equestrian center, but it has not happened. "They transferred the women staying in another camp in El Príncipe and took away the unaccompanied minors, but it's over. Here, 250 women with their children remain, who no longer have a place," Uzman clarifies.
