USS Abraham Lincoln welcomes Chon Buri officials aboard

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier greeted officials from Chon Buri province during its visit to Laem Chabang Port on September 3. The 333-meter long, nuclear-powered Nimitz-class vessel, which can accommodate over 5,000 crew and personnel and carry more than 80 aircraft, was visited by the governor of Chon Buri, Naris Niramaiwong, along with Major General Prasert Jaikla, commander of the 14th Military Circle, and local district chiefs.

The purpose of the visit was to enhance ties and camaraderie between Thailand and the United States.

The USS Abraham Lincoln's advanced capabilities include nuclear reactors that enable it to function and navigate for extended periods without needing frequent refueling. The carrier can host a host of aircraft, including fighter jets, helicopters, and airborne early-warning systems.

As part of the visit, Chon Buri has implemented security measures, deploying police, military personnel, and administrative officials around Laem Chabang Port and major tourist areas to ensure a smooth and secure experience for the US personnel. The local government has also sought the assistance of businesses, shops, and residents to warmly welcome the visiting crew throughout their stay.
