Trump Administration Launches Arcade Games Allowing Players To Deport Migrants, Build Border Wall

The White House has introduced a website featuring arcade games with a patriotic theme, enabling players to engage in deportation of migrants, construction of a border wall, and accumulation of funds in Trump investment accounts. The announcement came as the administration escalates its enforcement actions against undocumented migrants. Critics argue that the initiative trivializes the serious consequences of the administration's immigration policies.

One of the games, Rio Run, is a modernized version of the classic Snake game. In this game, a digital representation of US border agent Tom Homan pursues migrants with varied skin tones near the US-Mexico border along the Rio Grande. The White House unveils a website where players can build the wall, deport individuals, and fill Trump investment accounts.

Another game, Build the Wall, is an adaptation of the Tetris block-stacking game. The objective is to construct a border wall while being warned to "Protect the border from the coming horde." A third game involves amassing items to deposit into designated Trump accounts, which include a $1,000 deposit for children born between 2025 and 2028.

The White House's social media presence promoted the games with a video showcasing a MAGA logo inspired by the logo of video game company Sega. The post reads, "CAN'T STOP WINNING. Build the wall. Deport. Fill a Trump Account." The White House stated that this initiative is an attempt to highlight the administration's accomplishments in a manner that resonates with all Americans, contrasting a culture of fun and success with the perceived socialist vision of the Democrats.

Rights groups have expressed deep concern over the White House's decision to launch these games. Amerika Garcia Grewal, co-director of the Frontera Federation in Eagle Pass, Texas, expressed disgust, stating that the administration has been "playing games with people's lives for years" and now they have turned it into a video game representing its activities. Designers of these games, according to Grewal, have "lost touch with what it means to be human and care for others."

Adriana Jasso, programme coordinator for AMIGOS San Diego Community, who works at the border, emphasized the lack of seriousness by the administration. She noted that the arcade-style games demonstrate the "fundamental lack of seriousness" by the administration, as migrants continue to face dehumanizing and ridiculing treatment, even amidst deaths in detention centers. Jasso believes the White House is presenting migration issues in a manner akin to a game, while in reality, it is a grave matter.
