Impi Adun ‘sulung’, PAS Sarawak sasar tanding 4 kerusi di PRN

PAS Sarawak aims to secure at least four DUN seats in the upcoming state election, as party representative Rashidi Halun believes the party can achieve victory with meticulous planning, effort, and continuous work. The goal of targeting four seats is not merely an arbitrary number; each targeted constituency requires a clear objective, strength, and strategic plan of action.

Halun emphasized that the party must also understand the reasons behind their participation, their own strengths, weaknesses, and what they aspire to build. Sarawak is the most populous state in Malaysia, with 82 DUN seats, plus an additional 17, making it the state with the most representatives. He added that PAS Sarawak does not wish to join the election merely to fill a slot, but rather to contribute to strengthening the party for the long term.

Halun hoped that both the central PAS leadership and other state branches would help bolster the party in Sarawak. The DUN Sarawak term ends in February 2027, and the election must be held within 60 days of the dissolution of the DUN. In the 2021 PRN, PAS Sarawak fielded only one candidate, PAS Sarawak Secretary-General Arifiriazul Paijo, who contested in the Beting Maro seat in a five-cornered race. However, Arifiriazul secured second place behind Razaili Gapor of GPS, who received 3,769 votes.
