Malaysian men's doubles scratch pair Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King has secured a spot in the semi-finals of the World Tour Super 750 China Masters badminton championships following a grueling victory over a Japanese duo. The pair, who only began playing together in July, outlasted Takumi Nomura-Yuichi Shimogami 21-13, 19-21, 21-12 in a 56-minute quarter-final match.

In the next round, King will compete against rising China pair He Ji Ting-Ren Xiang Yu, who battled through a Malaysian scratch pair, Soh Wooi Yik-Aaron Tai, in a three-game final. This is King's second semi-final appearance of the year, having clinched the Korea Masters title last month. The Malaysian pair is among four new combinations being evaluated by the Badminton Association of Malaysia in preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The tournament's prize pool totals US$137,500, with the winners of the doubles categories taking home US$87,500 and the runners-up earning US$42,500. Semi-finalists will receive US$17,500, while all quarter-finalists will be awarded US$6,875.
