Nilai MoU Maha cecah RM9.3 bilion, atasi sasaran asal

(Picture Bernama) SERDANG: The memorandum of understanding (MoU) tied to the Maha exhibition reached RM9.3 billion, surpassing the initial target of RM8 billion.

Mohamad Sabu stated that this achievement aligns with the extraordinary response from the public, with visitor numbers reaching 2.77 million by the seventh day and sales soaring to RM16.3 million. While the RM8 billion target was set, the current figure stands at RM9.3 billion. By the seventh day, the visitor count amounted to 2.77 million, and over 555,000 vehicles had entered.

Speaking after the Realiti Agro Quest Program Prize Distribution Ceremony at the Malaysian Agricultural Expo (Maeps), Mohamad Sabu highlighted that China remains Malaysia's primary agricultural trade partner through the renewed cooperation and the RM3.27 billion import of agro-food products. He added that the MoU's certification signifies sustained commitment, followed by concrete business agreements to boost the sector's exports, including rambutan and high-tech applications.

Among the major collaborations is the RM1.5 billion MoU between the Malaysian National Farmers Union (Nafas), Guizhou Phosphate Chemical (GPC) Group, and Jiangsu Chemical Design Institute Co Ltd. Mohamad also expressed admiration for the involvement of young generations, transforming agriculture into a career option through modern technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

These young individuals are enthusiastic about agriculture and using groundbreaking technology, making agriculture a full-time career, he said. He urged residents around the Klang Valley to take the opportunity to visit Maha ending this Sunday, get seedlings, and learn about current local food technology.
