Nilai MoU Maha cecah RM9.3 bilion, atasi sasaran asal

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony for the Malaysia Agricultural, Horticulture, and Agro-tourism Expo (Maha) has reached RM9.3 billion, surpassing the initial target of RM8 billion. Malaysian Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu expressed his delight at the overwhelming response from the public, with over 2.77 million visitors and RM16.3 million in sales during the first seven days of the expo.

The MoU valuation of RM3.27 billion underscores Malaysia's commitment to continued cooperation, particularly in the form of new joint ventures, aimed at boosting exports in the agro-food sector, including pineapple exports and high-tech applications. Among the key collaborations is a RM1.5 billion MoU between the National Farmers' Union (Nafas), Guizhou Phosphate Chemical (GPC) Group, and Jiangsu Chemical Design Institute Co Ltd (CDIJS).

Mohamad Sabu was impressed by the enthusiasm and potential of the younger generation, highlighting how AI and IoT are being applied to make agriculture a viable career choice. He urged residents in the Klang Valley to take advantage of the final days of Maha, by visiting to obtain seedlings and learning about the latest local food technology.
