Racist abuse of new signing Vaz abhorrent – Hull

Hull City has condemned the "abhorrent racist abuse" directed at newly signed French striker Robinio Vaz following the announcement of his transfer on social media. The 19-year-old Frenchman arrived at the club on a season-long loan deal from Roma. The club has since removed the post but stated they are collaborating with Humberside Police and other authorities to identify the accounts responsible for this "disgusting abuse".

Hull City has issued a statement expressing their unwavering support for Vaz, emphasizing that "no individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse", and reiterating their "zero-tolerance policy" towards all forms of discrimination. The club has been communicating with the Premier League, anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out, and the relevant social media companies. They stand in solidarity with Vaz and urge supporters to continue reporting any form of discrimination.

Vaz, who scored one Serie A goal last season, has an option to buy at the end of the loan period. Hull City's head coach, Sergej Jakirovic, expressed his disgust at the incident on BBC Radio Humberside, stating, "Disaster. Unacceptable, zero tolerance on this abuse. We're living in the 21st century." He questioned the anonymity of the abuser, asking why they would not put their name and surname to their actions.

Jakirovic affirmed Hull City's full support for Vaz, noting that they are trying to help him due to his limited English proficiency, with the assistance of some French-speaking teammates.
