PM Surya Ghar Scheme Delivers ₹502 Crore Subsidy In Malwa-Nimar

Indore, Madhya Pradesh: The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, a government initiative aimed at providing solar power to households, is making significant progress in the western region of the state. As of the latest updates, over 69,000 solar plants have been installed, with a total subsidy of Rs 502 crore disbursed to consumers.

The Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company reported that the Malwa-Nimar region has seen 69,069 solar installations, with Indore district leading the charge at nearly 30,000 installations, followed by Ujjain and Ratlam.

As of Thursday evening, more than 65,000 consumers had received subsidies totaling over Rs 502 crore through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. The company's Managing Director, Anup Kumar Singh, emphasized ongoing efforts to promote the scheme and raise awareness about its benefits among eligible consumers. The process for subsidizing other eligible consumers is underway, with expected completion post the fulfillment of prescribed formalities and submission of required documents.

Superintending Engineers are actively monitoring applications and implementation to ensure the scheme's smooth operation. Since the scheme's inception, thousands of consumers have been installing rooftop solar systems each month, with a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 per consumer. The cumulative solar capacity installed under the scheme in western Madhya Pradesh stands at nearly 235 MW.

Experts anticipate that these rooftop systems will contribute to cleaner energy and reduce consumers' reliance on conventional electricity sources.
