NEET protest: At least 25 identified by Delhi Police camera at Jantar Mantar were already in jail, says report

The Delhi Police have dismissed allegations of political interference in the investigation of an alleged assault incident that occurred during the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on June 23. The two men accused in the case, Suraj Kumar (24) and Swatantra Bhardwaj (21), were dealt with according to the law, the police stated in a clarification shared on social media.

The claims of political interference arose from a video circulating online, in which one of the accused claimed he had severely assaulted a CJP protester and avoided jail due to intervention by a politician. The police also alleged that the alleged victim of the attack suffered 60 stitches and was on the verge of death. However, DCP (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma refuted these claims, stating that Sanjay Kumar suffered a head injury after being struck by a metal bracelet (kada), and that the injuries were found to be simple in nature.

The DCP emphasized that the misinformation regarding a cracked skull is baseless and has been investigated strictly according to the law.
