I tried aluminum foil and a surprising ingredient to remove radiator rust — here's my verdict

I recently tried using aluminum foil and ketchup to remove rust from a towel radiator in my bathroom. As bathroom cleaning is my least favorite chore, I was eager to see if this hack could improve the look of my home. Aluminum foil and ketchup are both common household items, and I wondered if they could work together to tackle rust without damaging the metal surface.

The process involves applying ketchup to the rusty areas, then rubbing them gently with a crumpled piece of aluminum foil. The mild acidity in ketchup helps dissolve the rust, while the foil provides a gentle cleaning action without scratching the surface. After following the instructions and tackling the worst rust spots on my towel radiator, I found that some rust was removed, but a significant amount remained.

The aluminum foil tore easily, and the acetic acid in the ketchup didn't have enough time to work effectively. To finish the job, I used a damp microfiber cloth, which did the heavy lifting in removing the stubborn rust. While I'm open to trying this hack again with a longer application time for the ketchup, I'm not against exploring other methods for removing rust in the future.
