GTMaritime launches GT Hub Operate for fleetwide software deployment

GTMaritime has introduced a new module called Operate for its GT Hub platform, enabling shoreside IT teams to efficiently deploy software across fleets of vessels. This addition builds upon the Identify module, which provides a comprehensive view of fleet assets and vulnerabilities. By combining fleet asset information with the tools necessary for addressing them, Operate streamlines the software deployment process.

The launch of Operate marks the beginning of an early adopter phase, with GTMaritime collaborating closely with a select group of customers before its wider release in the upcoming weeks. The platform's debut will be showcased at SMM Hamburg, offering visitors a chance to witness how shoreside IT teams can leverage the platform to manage software deployment across their fleets.

Identify, already part of GTHub, offers a centralized view of fleet hardware and software, backed by asset discovery, vulnerability detection, compliance reporting, and fleet dashboards. Operate extends this functionality by enabling software deployment across vessels from the same platform, eliminating the need to manage routine changes through separate, vessel-by-vessel processes.

An upcoming feature will include Windows Update management, further expanding the range of actions IT teams can handle centrally. The integration of identification and deployment stages within the platform eliminates the manual bridging of these tasks among teams. Jamie Jones, GTMaritime's Managing Director, emphasized that while knowing installed systems and software is crucial, the true challenge lies in applying the appropriate updates to ships with varying systems and operating schedules, often with inconsistent connectivity levels.

He added that a single decision made ashore should not result in separate administrative tasks for each vessel. GTMaritime is currently working closely with early adopter customers to refine and prepare Operate for broader availability. The Operate package includes all features from Identify, complemented by additional tools for IT teams to proactively manage vulnerabilities by deploying software directly to vessels.

Customers have the option to start with Identify and transition to Operate when additional management capabilities become necessary, rather than undergoing a complete system overhaul at once. GTMaritime's expertise in vessel communications and IT spans over 25 years, and this platform leverages that experience to bring vessel management and cybersecurity under one roof, particularly in the context of remote vessel operations and diverse fleet compositions.
