Ghana Gas CEO calls for more investment in gas infrastructure

Judith Adjobah Blay, the CEO of the Ghana National Gas Company Limited, has urged for more investment in gas infrastructure across Africa. She argues that while Africa possesses significant gas resources, insufficient midstream infrastructure is currently hindering the continent's ability to fully capitalize on this resource. During her appearance as a panelist at Africa Oil Week 2026, Ms Blay highlighted the importance of stronger partnerships between African governments, oil and gas companies, private investors, and development institutions to raise the necessary funds for expanding gas infrastructure.

She emphasized that Africa must focus on building the necessary infrastructure to connect gas resources to the people, industries, and economies that require them. Ms Blay believes that developing the midstream segment is crucial to narrowing the gap between gas supply and demand, and enhancing the resilience and efficiency of Africa's energy value chain.

For Ghana, the CEO stressed that investing in gas infrastructure remains vital for the nation's energy security and industrialization goals. Her participation at the forum also provided Ghana with an opportunity to showcase its expertise in the midstream gas sector and to advocate for increased regional cooperation in developing Africa's gas infrastructure.

This call for greater investment in gas infrastructure comes as African countries increasingly strive to attract investment in the gas sector, with infrastructure development seen as a critical factor in transforming the continent's gas resources into reliable energy and broader economic opportunities.
